Great Adventure’s Holiday in the Park

It’s got to be about 15 years since I have been to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ. Last weekend my friends and I went for their Holiday in the Park event the first day it opened. It was so much fun.

I wish they did it up here at Great Escape, but I totally understand that it wouldn’t be feasible. The weather, staff, and visitors would be pretty unpredictable.

Most of the rides, are open, and the day we went had pretty much no lines. It was pretty windy so some rides were not operating, but that was totally understandable. I think my favorite ride that day was Batman. I forgot how smooth and fun that roller coaster is. Fun fact, it was actually one of the very first roller coasters I ever went on!

They do a really nice job at decorating and their use of space is very smart. I think my favorite part was when it got dark and everything was lit up. One particular area that had fire pits, benches, holiday themed treats, drinks and gifts totally captured my heart. They wrapped the trees with white lights and decorated real trees like Christmas trees. Unfortunately, I took tons of Instagram video stories of this space, but no still photos.

I like how they didn’t over do the decorations, but made it very festive.

The day we went, they had a musical performance by Holiday Express, whose mission is to deliver music, food, gifts, financial support and friendship to those with the greatest need for the gift of human kindness during the holiday season. It is made up of professional musicians who donate their time and talent when they can. Their performance really put you in the holiday spirit!

Even if I didn’t already have a season pass, I would go for the day to Holiday in the Park. It’s a change from the normal theme park activities. Plus, how adorable is this reindeer hat I found in one of the shops and had to have?!?
