Valentine’s Day Weekend in the Adirondacks

OK, guys, and gals, Valentine’s Day is a little less than two weeks away, and since it also falls on President’s Day weekend, this is going to be a big one.

Whether you have been dating a few months, want to impress a certain someone, have been married a few years or are celebrating with kids, the Adirondacks has something for everyone. From skiing and chocolate tastings to wine tasting and gourmet dinners, locals and visitors alike can enjoy this double holiday weekend.

First off, I can’t imagine anywhere more romantic in the Lake George area than The Sagamore Resort
in Bolton Landing. Roaring fires, delicious foods and a warm view
looking out over the lake while sipping a cocktail are just a few of the
reason why this is one of my favorite places. They are even running a Valentine’s Day Special.

If you decide to say there, Bolton Landing also offers tons of cute shops, restaurants and bars, and is also a short drive away from Gore Mountain in North Creek if you like to ski, snowboard or snow tube.

Speaking of North Creek, why not treat your sweetie to some sweets at the Barkeater Chocolates store. They have a wide variety sure to please anyone, and trust me you will not be disappointed. They are really good! Tell Jim and Deb, the owners, that I sent you.
Back in the Lake George area, stop by the Adirondack Winery for a wine tasting, and/or pick up a few bottles for a romatic evening at home. Also in Lake George Village, there is the always popular Adirondack Pub and Brewery, which features craft beer at its finest and a good selection of classic food. If you are looking for some live music, check out King Neptunes, where Rusted Root will be playing on Friday night.
Of course all weekend long Lake George Village will be host to the annual Winter Carnival, which will feature a variety of events including a beach bonfire and fireworks.

If you are in the Olympic spirit, head on up to Lake Placid, where you can ski and enjoy a variety of winter and Olympic-related events. Since the Olympics will be in full swing, and Lake Placid’s own Andrew Weibrecht will be competing, you can bet the town will be in full swing.
One especially romantic place to stay or grab a drink at is the Mirror Lake Inn, which is owned by Weibrecht’s family. Their lobby is so warm and welcoming that you will want to curl up with a good book and read all day. Also, the views of Mirror Lake from there are spectacular.
In the village, there are tons of shops, restaurants and breweries to keep you busy. And, for kids there are tons of Olympic related events that will keep them facinated.
Whatever you decide to do, enjoy the weekend with people you love, and if you’re single like me, check back here in a few days for another post about how you can celebrate the weekend, too.
