My Lake George Birthday

Last weekend I celebrated my birthday by eating, shopping and drinking my way around the lower Adirondacks — and it was a blast! Not to mention a perfect way to say good riddance to a year that was full of more lows than highs.

We started out the windy autumn day in Bolton Landing.

Where we enjoyed a tasty breakfast at Iva and Audie’s Country Diner.

After that we did a little shopping. First at Happy Jacks, where I found an appropriate birthday hat.

Then we stopped at Adirondack Trails Store, where I was so excited to find my mason jar wine glasses I had mentioned on Facebook earlier in the week!

Then we stopped in the Adirondack Cotton Company followed by several antique stores, including this one.

Of course we also stopped at the garden center in town, which was overflowing with beautiful pumpkins. It was there, where I found this little lady.

After stopping at a few more stores, including Serendipity, we headed over to The Sagamore for a small bite to eat and the first birthday drink of the day.

The rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing with the dogs, chatting and writing — all while it down-poured! What a crazy rain storm.

Late in the afternoon, I whipped up a fabulous roasted garlic and red pepper beer bread mix I bought earlier this year while I was in Kansas and assembled a vegetarian cheese board with four types of cheeses, crackers, fig jam and honey.

Then my friends Jen and Tina and I headed to the Adirondack Pub and Brewery for some birthday beer! We ended the night with live music at Duffy’s.

I’m usually not one to celebrate my birthday, but this year I needed it. I wanted to kick 3* to the curb and say hello to 3*, with a fresh slate!

Big thanks goes out to these girl for a fabulous birthday!
