Fresh Roasted Adirondack Coffee

If you can’t tell by now, I’m a huge fan of the Glens Falls Farmers Market. It’s convenient, close, takes place on a Saturday and I always find something new to try. Last week I got a bunch of new items, including Adirondack Country Gourmet Coffee!

It is seriously the second-best cup of coffee I’ve ever had!  {My favorite is the coffee at Cafe DuMonde in New Orleans}. Adirondack Country Gourmet Coffee is smooth, not bitter {I drank it black} and actually tastes the way it smells.

Before I go any further, for those of you not in the area, don’t leave this page fret — just like the Dilly Dip, you can order this online, and have it shipped. Not only is the coffee delicious, but the story behind it is pretty neat.

For the past 20 winters  Adirondack Country Gourmet Coffee owner John Collins has been visiting his friend’s coffee plantation in Honduras, and would bring back fresh coffee beans for his friends. After year of his friends telling him he should turn it into a business, he launched Adirondack Country Gourmet Coffee eight years ago and hasn’t looked back since.

When Collins tells you it’s fresh roasted coffee he’s not just joking — he roasted the coffee we had less than 24 hours earlier, and when you place an order all the coffee is shipped the day it’s roasted.

He also told us that the workers at the plantation are paid higher than required by Fair Trade rules, and are given housing on the land.
