Homemade Cranberry Simple Syrup

Making your own flavored simple syrups to use in cocktails is so easy that it will make you think twice about buying a mass produced bottle from the store. Beyond how easy it is, what I like most is that it only has three ingredients — water, sugar and fruit.

No artificial anything!

I like to put several teaspoons in sparkling white wine, champagne or rum.

2 cups  fresh cranberries
1 cup water
1 cup sugar

Combine all the cranberries, water and sugar in a medium pot, stir and bring to a boil. Stir, reduce heat and simmer for 8-10 minutes.

Remove from heat and pour the fruit and liquid into a strainer over a large bowl. Discard the cranberries and let the syrup cool.

Store in a sealed container or pour into ice cube trays to use in various drinks.
