I’ve wanted to try the Celsius Bar at Citi Pond in Bryant Park every winter season for as long as I can remember, so when a group of alumnae from my sorority decided to eat there on a recent holiday shopping trip to New York City, I was very excited. And, I was even happier that it didn’t disappoint!
Overlooking the Pond, Celsius has great rink-side views and offers indoor and outdoor dining. If you pick the outdoor dining like we did try to sit on one of the white plush couches for a feeling of high-priced lounge meets trendy European ice bar.
Oh, and don’t worry, they have a ton of heat lamps that keep both you, and your food warm.
Start out with one of their alcohol infused cider drinks, and enjoy people watching while waiting for your food to arrive. We had a group that included meat eaters, a vegetarians and a vegan — and there was something for all of us to enjoy.
I ordered the truffle mac n’ cheese, and it was everything you would expect in this type of dish — bubbling cheese with a mild flavor and tender macaroni. I highly recommend it!
The hummus platter one of my sisters ordered. It came with cheese, but if you ask, they will make it vegan for you.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a link to their menu for you, but food prices at this place were not as bad as I thought it would be for a tourist spot. My mac n’ cheese was about $16 and for the taste was worth every penny. My drink was between $10 and $12 — a little pricier than I would have liked. If I remember correctly, whatever the sparkling option was, it was only a few dollars more, so next time I will likely just order that. Plus, bubbly goes well with the posh ambiance.
