Isn’t that a great saying? My best friend Kelly texted it to me during a conversation about what she was doing Friday night. Her and her boyfriend were going to be carving pumpkins and invited me over with the stipulation B.Y.O.P. I literally started laughing out loud.
Believe it or not it was the first time either of us had tried carving a pumpkin … and it went, um, interesting. We had her boyfriend, a much more masterful carver than us, guiding (and likely laughing) at us through the process.
I have cut up pumpkins for cooking before, but never to carve. It’s a lot harder than I thought it would be, but it was a lot of fun. I’m going to cook up the pumpkin today, but here’s some photos from last night. You can see how excited my friend Kelly was to scrap out the inside of the pumpkin.
Since I’m a total novice at this, I’d love to know your best tips for carving the perfect pumpkin. 🙂
