Oh my gosh — So good! Even cold, right from the fridge, these gluten free cupcakes and brownies from French Meadow Bakery are delicious.
Depending on where I am, I shop in a variety of stores, Price Chopper, Trader Joes, ShopRite, Wegmans, Whole Foods, etc. But, this was the first time I ever saw these and was ecstatic when I spotted them in my local Hannaford.
Instead of being in the frozen foods section where many of the gluten free baked goods tend to be, these were in the freezer cabinets along with ice creams cakes and other sweets in the bakery section. I would have never thought to look there.
The cupcakes, four for $4.99, are not that bad price wise, when you figure a single bakery cupcake can run you anywhere from $2 to $6 depending on where you are. Yes, you can get a boxed mix for about the same price, but the boxed mix doesn’t come with frosting. Plus, if you’re like me and are single, or the only one in the house who has a gluten sensitivity, making an entire box of cupcakes is a waste of time, energy and food.
The cake tastes similar to “regular” cake, but just a little denser, and the frosting is a good balance of sweet.
And, the chocolate brownie — is almost like eating fudge. It was moist and chewy. I tried them both straight from the fridge and they were yummy, but you could probably should leave them out and bring to room temperature before serving.
Another great thing? They are perfect for parties where you may have someone with a gluten allergy attending.
I found this product on my own and was not compensated in any way by any company. This is truly a product I found, tried, loved and wanted to share with my readers.
