I’m never buying salad dressing again. Olive oil, basil and garlic salt is my new favorite lettuce topper, and it’s surprisingly really good.
A few weeks ago I had just finished eating some sliced tomatoes drizzled with olive oil, garlic salt and basil when I was looking for dressing to put on a lettuce based salad and couldn’t find a single bottle. Usually, in that situation I would just pour some balsamic vinaigrette over it, but there was this olive oil mixture staring me right in the face.
So, I figured why not pour it over the lettuce. How bad could it be? It was awesome! Plus, it’s vegan and gluten free.
For the past, at least three or four weeks this is how I’ve been eating my salad, and have convinced everyone else who has come over to try it this way, too, and they’ve loved it. I think it helps that you’re putting it on fresh, because it doesn’t sit and you can add as little or as much as you want.
Plus, it’s olive oil, so it’s healthy for you. No preservatives, corn syrup, milk, artificial flavors – nothing that is bad for you.
This is what you need:
olive oil (I used Carapelli Extra Virgin Olive Oil
basil (I used dried, but you can use fresh if you have it)
Drizzle your salad with the olive oil.
Add some basil
Sprinkle with garlic salt.
Mix well and you have a perfect salad dressing. Enjoy!
