I love traveling, and trying new places to grab a bite to eat. I also usually don’t mind eating alone at a restaurant in a new city, because it’s actually kind of liberating. Makes me feel very sophisticated.
A very early morning train out of Jersey meant by the time I got to D.C. last Friday I was starving, and in major need of caffeine! On previous trips to our nation’s capital I’ve had drinks at the Center Cafe in Union Station while waiting to get my train home, and they were always very good. So, I was pleasantly surprised to see they served breakfast.
Wanting to try something different, the Strata Eggs caught my eye: Eggs whipped and baked with mushrooms, peppers, broccoli and herbs, served with cafe potatoes for $7.95.
Several cups of coffee later, my breakfast came out pretty quick, very hot and was absolutely delish! I always worry the eggs will be too mushy or too hard, but these were right in the middle. It was also served with cantaloupe and whole wheat toast.
A bonus — Its location also makes for great people-watching while waiting for your order – or train.
