It will be the first time I’m not working Christmas Day in … in … in… hmm, well in such a long time that I can’t remember when it was!
Holidays are always bittersweet for me, because I remember the Christmas and Christmas Eves we used to have when I was a little girl. My mom would always wait until pretty much the last minute to bake and we would stay up all night making cookies from recipes that were passed down generations, get a few hours of sleep, and then wake up early Christmas Eve morning and start cooking the food for dinner.
My favorite Christmas Eves had to be the ones where my mom’s cousin, his kids and my grandparents would come over. It was always a big Italian feast of pasta and fun. Christmas Day we would usually go to my aunt’s house. She would always make some cool, little holiday craft as our place setting and the best part was that I would usually get to stay with her and my uncle for a few day while everyone else went home.
It used to be sooo much fun!
Tomorrow will be fun, too. Keeping in tradition I will cook like crazy in the morning, take the fur grandkid to see my mom and then head over to my grandparents’ house. And, of course we will be enjoying some Adirondack Winery beverages with our dinner!
To get in the Christmas spirit, here are some photos I snapped at Rockefeller Center the other day.
Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!
