If there is one food I am always in the mood for it’s pizza! I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Seriously.
When I was looking for my house in the Adirondacks, one of the towns I checked out was Schroon Lake. During the numerous trips there, my wonderful real estate agent suggested if I was ever hungry and looking to ‘grab a slice’ I should try De Cesare’s Pizzeria.
He was correct.
My growling stomach forced me to stop at De Cesare’s on Route 9 in Schroon Lake last week on my way back from checking out the town’s snowtubing and ski hills.
After a not-so-great experience the night before with a different pizza joint I was a little leery, especially when they told me I couldn’t order just a slice, but instead could get a “six cut” pizza.
My worries came to a speeding halt at my first bite into the gooey cheese, sweet tomato sauce and crispy crust.
The pizza was steaming hot and covered in just enough bubby cheese. The crust wasn’t too thick or too thin, but had a solid taste that was similar a deep-dish Chicago-style pizza.
The small Adirondack style inside with wooden booths and tables has a home-style feel that gives you the impression the recipe for their sauce was passed down generations.
There is no wait staff. You order, pay and bring the food to your table. They also have take-out. When I was there it seemed like everyone knew each other and the staff behind the counter were really enjoying their jobs. They also offer full meals and classic Italian favorites.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a Web site for their business to link out to them, but if you are in Schroon Lake, check’em out. They are located at 938 State Route 9 in Schroon Lake. Here is a Google map of their location.
I go kayaking at Schroon Lake a lot during the summer, and will be grabbing some grub from there again!
There was totally enough for two people!
