Las Vegas

I love to travel, but don’t get to do it nearly as much as I would like.

One of my favorite places to go is Las Vegas, just for the fact there are so many things to do there – including stuff away from the glimmer of the strip. And, you can find some pretty good deals.

I recently wrote a story about Las Vegas that has some really good advice. There’s even an accompanying slideshow that features my photos. Check it out!

The first time I went was with my friend, Jess. We were at a bar one night and were talking about Vegas. We both said we never have been and wanted to go. It just so happened we had the same weekend off (we were both working very demanding jobs and that was a rarity), so we decided to go. We got there very late Friday night and flew back Sunday afternoon. It was one of those things you do, just to say you did it.

I’ve been back a bunch of times since: for a journalism conference, with a group of friends, my Dad and most recently for my best friend’s 29th birthday last year.

It’s great to get off the strip and take advantage of all the beautiful outdoor views and activities – like standing at the edge of the Grand Canyon, driving through Red Rocks National Conservation Area and ATVing in the Valley of Fire.

Some day I’d love to be able to rock climb at Red Rocks. I think it would be an amazing experience. My girlfriends and I are trying to plan a trip next year to celebrate our 30th birthdays, and possibly for this New Years! (Last year we celebrated in Times Square, so it’s hard to beat that!)

If you’re ever looking for advice about where to go or what to do in Las Vegas – just ask!
